Sheets on a Queen or King Size Bed

If you have a twin or full size bed, it's easy to put fresh sheets on right the first time, because the sheets are clearly longer than they are wide, so it's relatively easy to find the top. However, queens and kings aren't so easy. But if you have a queen or a king size bed, you know they are almost square. Almost. In fact, kings are just barely NOT-square enough that it's tough to tell which way the sheets go. You try it one way, struggle to make it fit over all four corners, then realize that it's on the wrong way, so pull it off, give it a quarter-turn and try again.

It does get annoying when you have trouble remembering which way to place the sheets. Then I found a very simple way to make it impossible to put the sheets on the wrong way...

Always buy striped sheets!

When I buy solid color sheets with a tone-on-tone stripe I always know which way they're supposed to be put on the bed. It's so simple, I’m surprised I didn’t think of it a long time ago. It all goes back to my over-used phrase, Keep It Simple!

Change Furnace Filters

Furnaces must work harder to pull air through dirty, clogged furnace filters which means they run longer, harder and heat less efficiently than they would with a fresh, clean filter installed. Just after Thanksgiving is a good time to change those filters from last year and stock up on filters to get you through the winter.

Depending on the type of filter you use it will need to be changed every 30 to 90 days throughout the heating season for best results. Even with longer rated filters however, it’s always wise to keep an eye on its condition as you go along since every home is different and will require different filter changing schedules for best results.

A furnace in a home with pets for instance, is likely to need a filter change before one in a home without.
