Prepare ahead of time for the unexpected. It might be as simple as a scrapped knee (grab your first-aid kit), or as major as a sudden storm. Here in the midwest a fast-moving blizzard might catch you on the highway. Do you have a box of supplies in the trunk of your car? What will you do if Spring showers suddenly become a flood? Do you live in an area of the country that has earthquakes? The Hurricane season always makes news in the Southeast. If a storm knocks out your electric power, what will you do? Are you prepared?
Aunt Sharon in Charleston SC has prepared for Hurricanes many times. She has it down to a science and explains what she and Uncle Lee do on the Hurricane page.
A Family first aid kit is essential to keep. Be sure everyone knows where it is kept. Keep the supplies current--Check it at the same time you replace the batteries in your smoke detectors. I do this twice a year when we change from standard to daylight savings time.
